PL to Close it's doors, again?
Rumours flying around that the PL will once again play it's games behind closed doors.

42 confirmed cases from players and staff from various clubs.

I think the majority found the return of fans very uplifting and the thought of empty stadiums would be devastating !

It would be totally unnecessary

Was it the fans causing this outbreak then?

brand0, I think with the rise in cases amongst players and staff, along with a more "transmissible" variant, the PL are thinking if they play behind closed doors it'll help reduce the infection numbers.

Hope I'm wrong, just saying what I think the logic behind it is.

Bring it on. We didn’t do too shabby last time.

Lingard is cursed.

If the new variant is more transmittable but less virulent (= less overall hospitalisations), I would have thought open doors rather than early doors would be the order of the day.

Playing behind closed doors kicked the Moyesiah led revolution in to action so CHAMPIONS it is if that happens again.

Antonio went on a scoring run, IIRC behind closed doors.

I feel it's more likely they may have to pause the schedule for a couple of weeks and give teams time to assess their containment methods.

Playing behind closed doors should have no impact on players getting infected or not, although I can see closed doors being insisted upon again to slow spready round the general public rather than for the players sake.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
From the snippets of games I've seen on TV, many stadiums were (almost) full, suggesting that most, if not all, game-attending fans were already vaccinated/negative testing and there would be very little overall gain in the general population to be had by closing the doors again.

Hardly the fans fault the players have caught it.
It might happen to stop it in wider population but the number of players catching won’t drive decision too stop fans coming.

Clubs need to get back to early measures. Some have got quite lax with it. Lots of mixing at training; less testing and media coming and going as normal.

Why would it suggest that? I was with someone the other week at a game who tested positive the next day.

There were no actual obligations on anyone to be vaxed or negative tested to attend football up until today's vote

Firstly, it's what all the propaganda suggested to me - I could have attended several home games this season but was given the distinct impression that I'd be asked to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test.

Secondly, there's no suggestion that the person you mention picked up the virus at the game. He/she could well have been carrying it for up to 13 days prior to that.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
What propaganda?

I'm an STH, not sure I have had anything from the club to suggest proof of vaccination or a negative would be required.

YOu wouldn't, it's not legislation yet, Johnson?

Information I received from the various sources I questioned about the situation.

Which way do you want to take this?

Get straight to the end and say what you feel is needed to save the rest of us all the bollocks involved.

I know this but Mike seems to have believed some hype and not actually checked facts. He's apparently missed loads of games because of it.

Bit odd from someone who thinks everyone else is led by propaganda and the media etc.

To be honest, I can't see how the clubs will enforce it.

It's long winded getting into grounds without checking peoples VPs or LFTs.

Can we not just ban football permanently? 😂
